Time Wasters 2005

2008 | 2007 | 2006 | 2005 | 2004 | 2003

With the new year, it's time for another round of time wasters. We’ve put together a great selection of time wasters. These are websites where you can play games, discover astoundingly superfluous knowledge, and generally spend many happy hours wasting time.

Get Wrapped
This game is hard. You will waste plenty of time learning to get your snowplow to head in the right direction so you can scoop up snowflakes, peppermints, a toll pass, and mystery holiday gifts to earn points. You’re plowing against the clock to clear the city streets, but time is what it will take to master this game.

Driver’s Ed
Up for more vehicular time squandering? This is another game that will take you hours to master. The driving test is divided up into specific driving tasks. Can you back out of a parking space? Make a right turn? Merge with traffic? Parallel park? Ha! Sure you do! You’ll be spending hours in the practice area before you dare face Ed, the driving instructor.

Trebuchet Challenge
The trebuchet is the original siege engine, and now you can build your own trebuchet and test its distance, accuracy, and power. You’ll start out determining your projectile mass, counterweight mass, and counterweight height. You can also adjust the angle of release, gravity, and wind. The correct combinations will help you score the most points in each of your three challenges. See if you can add your score to the high scorer’s list.

Implosion World
Imagine a site where you can see video clips of the implosion of all kinds of large architectural constructs from bridges to stadiums to high rises. That site is Implosion World. You can explore the site for all kinds of graphics and information about imploding buildings, but we linked you straight to the Cinema Explosif. For the pyrotechnic buff this probably wouldn’t be categorized as a time waster, but for most of us, it’s just cool to watch the planned demolition of large buildings. How do they get them to fall in such an orderly fashion?

Mr. Picasso Head
Use the elements provided to create your own Picasso like drawing. You have your choice of face, eyes, nose, lips, ears, eyebrows, hair, and some abstract elements. Each object can be scaled up or down, rotated, flipped, and sent forward or backward in the image as you choose. You can also change the color of each element. Once you’ve completed your Mr. Picasso Head, you can sign it and save or email it. Take a stroll through the gallery to see how other’s renditions of Mr. Picasso Head.

Cyber Mice Party
This clever game has you using matches, triangles, dominoes and more to get your mice to head towards the big cheese. Naturally, these little vermin don’t want to cooperate so you must position your objects to slowly funnel all your mice towards the cheese. As you advance through the levels this becomes harder as more black holes appear, sucking your little mice away before you can get them safely to the cheese.

Ping Pong Matrix
Well, you just have to click on this to truly appreciate it. It won’t waste that much of your time unless you decide to play the clip repeatedly or bust a gut laughing.

Reverse
This time waster has the added benefit of being so annoying that you simply must overcome the challenge it presents, thereby enhancing it’s ability to make you waste time. The instant you click the start button your curse now works in reverse, and the very simple task of guiding the square to the goal seems impossible. But not completely impossible as anyone who makes repeated attempts will discover. This game is one of many at Scenta. Follow the link and then select Games, games, and more games link and then Reverse from the list of Puzzle games. Expand your time wasting by trying out the other games.

The staff at EHO try very hard to answer all our mail. We have had many of our responses to email returned as undeliverable. We also delete unread a great deal of spam. If your email message header sounds like it is spam, it will be deleted. "You Should See This!" or "Have I got something great for you" are examples of subject lines that would be deleted unread. If you use 'EHO' in the subject line it will not be deleted unread. If you have not received an answer to your question, please resend your email. We usually have a delay of 1 to 2 weeks in answering email because of the number of requests we get. Those wishing to request links to our site should read our linking page before writing us. All our resources are posted online. We do not mail information to postal addresses.
