Winsome Womanhood ~ Daybreak, revised and expanded by Nebraska homeschooling mother-of-three Shelley Noonan, is an excellent mother-teenaged daughter, do-it-together journal and Bible study. Beautifully reminiscent of a simpler time, this is just the medicine for an older girl, too soon to be a woman, in an era whose clock winds tighter and tighter each year. Turn aside for some time together to share as mother and daughter. Rebuild the connections that will see your daughter through to her own adult years, or strengthen the ties you've already knitted, heart-to-heart.

Sangster penned the original edition more than 100 years ago. Noonan, who also co-authored The Companion Guide to Beautiful Girlhood, polishes the 2001 model for a new generation of young women who still need the message of purity and purpose. Geared specifically for young women ages 15-20 and their mothers, the 267-page paperback will take you together through seven weeks of renewal. "We, as mothers, have lost the focus of teaching our daughters what it means to be women," Noonan charges. Will your daughter "get it" by osmosis? No! She'll "get it" because you take the time to purposely teach her what it means to be a woman through your careful mentoring.

Sangster's words with Noonan's "gentle editing" leads you through one chapter per week with reading aloud together, working through your journal sections, meeting to discuss answers, and praying your way through the process, all while expecting God to do great things in your relationship. There are projects and resources in chapters with titles like "The Girl and Her Friends," "Her Innocent Pleasures," and "Her Occupation." Winsome Womanhood ~ Daybreak holds the standard high while reminding the reader, from the original 1900 forward, "Our whole-hearted devotion is not too much to offer Him."

Consider this Bible study for groups of moms and daughters. Pumpkin Seed Press offers discounts up to 50-percent for volume buying.
