The Cosmic Wonder Series, from Parent Child Press, is a set of books intended for beginning readers that is also helpful for older, reading-delayed children. These six books present potentially challenging astronomical information in bite-sized, fascinating form.

I Know What Gravity Does asks questions such as "People live all around Planet Earth, but no one falls off. Why?" The answer, gravity, is explained in simple terms, with text on the left side of the booklet and simple, hand-drawn illustrations on the right side. Each book ends with a simple exclamation, "I Wonder!" that helps pique a child's curiosity to learn more.

Other Series Titles:
How Big is the Milky Way?
I Look "Out" at the Stars
I Live in the Universe
I Know the Sun Does Not "Set"
I Travel on Planet Earth

Be forewarned that when you start teaching your children astronomy, some of the most useful books may assume the lack of intelligent design in the creation of the universe. I did not notice anything in this book that disagrees with creationism, however. It is written from a more practical geographical standpoint. If you believe from a creationist standpoint, you may want to review the content more closely to your own satisfaction, and augment the lesson plans with lessons and/or books from a creationist point of view.

The staff at EHO try very hard to answer all our mail. We have had many of our responses to email returned as undeliverable. We also delete unread a great deal of spam. If your email message header sounds like it is spam, it will be deleted. "You Should See This!" or "Have I got something great for you" are examples of subject lines that would be deleted unread. If you use 'EHO' in the subject line it will not be deleted unread. If you have not received an answer to your question, please resend your email. We usually have a delay of 1 to 2 weeks in answering email because of the number of requests we get. Those wishing to request links to our site should read our linking page before writing us.
