Unit Study, paperback book, 787 pages

Masterfully authored by Robin Samson, Ancient History: Adam to Messiah offers 787 pages of the most exciting, challenging, real life, Biblical learning adventures divided into 7 unit studies that are sure to transport both teacher and student back to when time began!

Using The Heart of Wisdom Teaching Approach and the Internet you can open the minds, and more importantly the hearts, of your 4th - 12th grade students to God's Word as never before. While covering a time frame from Creation through the time of Christ, they will learn how to study, write, research, and reason through a wide variety of subjects such as Bible, world history, geography, literature, government, composition, agriculture, religion, science, economics, and art history. They will even learn some very basic Hebrew and Greek words. To top it all off, they will be developing a habit of daily Bible reading, and they won't even realize it! (You will need to add a math and language arts program for a full year curriculum.)

With these unit studies comes enough gentle structure to give a teacher confidence as well as the freedom to explore. At the beginning of each unit you will find a unit overview, a list of objectives, a timeline relating to that specific time period, a vocabulary word list, and a resource list that includes Key Resources, Alternative Resources, Internet Resources and Videos. Your students will use a Portfolio to store their work in (The Heart of Wisdom will even guide you to in-depth resources to help you set up a Web-based portfolio to share with others.), a Time Line Book, a Vocabulary Notebook and a Spelling Notebook. Each lesson is broken into 4 steps. The first step is Excite, where you will create an interest to motivate your students by making the lesson meaningful to their lives. The second step is Examine; this is the research section where your students will find facts through many resources, all of which are listed. Step three is Expand. This is a fun section. You will find several different activities for your students to choose from. The fourth step is Excel; your students are encouraged to share what they have learned with others.

Planning time is minimal and depending on the age(s) of your students, prep time can vary. Older students are encouraged to be more independent and even help instruct younger students with their assignments. I like that part. You will find a weekly planning sheet (reproducible) at the back of the book or you can print one at Heart of Wisdom's website. You simply fill it out for each week.

Because there are so many resources and activities to choose from, students with a wide variety of learning styles can benefit from this curriculum. To view sample pages of Ancient History: Adam to Messiah visit the Heart of Wisdom website.

There is enough information and resources without purchasing anything more, however they do recommend purchasing the key resources.

You can purchase Ancient History: Adam to Messiah two ways. The Bound book will cost you $99.95(includes Password to Access Web Pages). Or you can choose to purchase the E Book for $52.00 (includes Password to Access Web Pages); you will be able to access the whole book online. Order by phone 1-800-266-5564 (you can NOT order E Books by phone), International order 1-419-281-1802, order by fax 1-419-281-6883, or visit Heart of Wisdom's website to print your own order form.

This curriculum is well worth the price.
