Guides to History Plus

Printer Friendly Version

Publisher: Design-A-Study
Author: Kathryn Stout

List Price: $14.00

Ages: Adult

Reviewed By: Anita Barth

Real freedom and flexibility reveal themselves in the first few pages when this book introduces the concept of unit studies. Ideas for resources and a few teaching tips are helpful, but still may leave the novice a little lost. Stout recommends a variety of sources including library books, movies, field trips and software.

Unit study applications are divided into five sections. The first contains generic questions that, when applied to a culture, prompt investigation. The questions can be satisfied in a variety of ways including written composition, pictures, projects or discussions. They also cover a large range of information from customs and religion to geography. The "Plus" is earned through additional exposure to government, map skills, economics, art, science, music, and more. Objectives, questions for analysis, and supplementary resources make up the remaining sections.

Guides to History is like having detailed overlays applied to any time or culture, giving the user the ability to delve thoroughly into the most interesting part of a people or era. It can be used as a sole curriculum guide or as a supplement to target any desired historical time or figure.

History Plus is an attractive 123 page, paperback manual. It has a colored, glossy cover and sells for $14.00

The staff at EHO try very hard to answer all our mail. We have had many of our responses to email returned as undeliverable. We also delete unread a great deal of spam. If your email message header sounds like it is spam, it will be deleted. "You Should See This!" or "Have I got something great for you" are examples of subject lines that would be deleted unread. If you use 'EHO' in the subject line it will not be deleted unread. If you have not received an answer to your question, please resend your email. We usually have a delay of 1 to 2 weeks in answering email because of the number of requests we get. Those wishing to request links to our site should read our linking page before writing us.
