Now here's an ABC book with a twist!

If your child has ever wondered about the words the military uses instead of letters, alpha for `A' for example, or if he's ever asked about the signal flags flown on ships, Alpha Bravo Charlie will make answering his questions a lot easier.

The artwork is lovely, reminiscent of children's books from the 1940s, which is entirely appropriate to the military theme. Each page offers up one of the standard alphabet's 26 letters, in both upper and lower case, accompanied by its word from the fascinating International Communications Alphabet, which is the alphabet the military uses, and the equivalent signal flag. At the bottom of each page you will also find an appropriate sentence. For example, on the "Alpha Aa" page, you'll read, "An A-4 Skyhawk catches an arresting cable as it lands atop an aircraft carrier."

The author has included notes at the back of the book that explain both alphabets. This background information, with what they will have already read, is interesting enough that it just might lead your young explorers to seek out even more!

The staff at EHO try very hard to answer all our mail. We have had many of our responses to email returned as undeliverable. We also delete unread a great deal of spam. If your email message header sounds like it is spam, it will be deleted. "You Should See This!" or "Have I got something great for you" are examples of subject lines that would be deleted unread. If you use 'EHO' in the subject line it will not be deleted unread. If you have not received an answer to your question, please resend your email. We usually have a delay of 1 to 2 weeks in answering email because of the number of requests we get. Those wishing to request links to our site should read our linking page before writing us.
