How do you pass on all the experience a support leader gains over time as they direct the day to day business of a busy homeschool support group? It would be nice if there was some way to do a file transfer from experienced leader to new leaders. Camilla Leedahl has done the next best thing by covering the many aspects of leading a homeschool support group in The Homeschool Support Group: A Handbook for Christian Leaders.

The Homeschool Support Group was written in response to overwhelming requests for a handbook Camilla helped write for the North Dakota support group. She has revised the original format of that handbook to make it applicable to support groups nationwide.

To allow you to see the scope of information she presents, I'm including the table of contents from the book. Each topic is thoroughly covered. For example in the section entitled "Lightening Your Load Through Delegation" the following concerns are covered: why delegate, to whom should you delegate, levels of delegation, what if it didn't work, what to delegate, what not to delegate and thank you's. Camilla and several other homeschool leaders offer sound advice grounded in actual experience.

When dealing with some of the more controversial aspects of leading a support group, she offers pros and cons for a variety of positions. For example, she discusses the advantages and disadvantages of having exclusive or inclusive groups, and whether groups should have a statement of faith.

The Homeschool Support Group is a primer for all those desiring positions of leadership in their local or state homeschool groups. It has been priced to make it possible for groups to order copies for all those with leadership responsibilities in their group. It is available from Hearthside Productions, 15470 County Road 2, Leonard, ND 58052. 1 Book-$5.00 / 2-10 Books $4.00 each / 11 or More Books $3 each. North Dakota residents must add 5% sales tax. Shipping charges are 8% with a $1.50 minimum.

The staff at EHO try very hard to answer all our mail. We have had many of our responses to email returned as undeliverable. We also delete unread a great deal of spam. If your email message header sounds like it is spam, it will be deleted. "You Should See This!" or "Have I got something great for you" are examples of subject lines that would be deleted unread. If you use 'EHO' in the subject line it will not be deleted unread. If you have not received an answer to your question, please resend your email.
