Good Morning, God is a beautiful hardcover book, written for children so that they can begin to love, understand, and think about the Heavenly Father from the time they wake up until they go to bed – all through the day. The overall idea is to let children know that they can worship God all day, without even having to do something special. Something as simple as helping around the house can be a way of expressing worship to the Lord.

The book begins on Sunday with a little boy and his family going to church, and ends a week later on Sunday with the little boy praying to God. There are both simple pencil drawings illustrating the first part of the day and a full color page illustrating the other part of the day. The illustrations are beautifully done and help to keep the interest of the child being read to. At the end of the story, there are question and activity pages for each day that parent and child are encouraged to work through together. The question could be as simple as “what are some ways we can worship God?” and an activity could be to read a part of Scripture or draw a picture.

You don’t have to do all the questions or activities in one setting – read the book and pick a question, activity or one of each for the day of the week you’re on and focus on that. Also, focus on Scripture so that children can begin to write these words on their hearts and minds – this book is a wonderful way to begin training children according to Deuteronomy 6:6-7. While it’s geared towards ages one to eight, this is a beautiful book to read even to babies, or have an older child read to the younger ones – it’s never too early or too late to let the words of the Lord settle in. Good Morning, God is a beautiful book that provides a gentle way of introducing children to God and His Word.
