Home Schooling For Life was written by Dr. Dale Simpson, who writes for Homeschooling Today magazine. Dr. Simpson has written a book that will help the average reader to figure out how to incorporate homeschooling into life. Many families tend to inadvertently separate schooling and "life lessons" and this book shows you how to put the two together.

This book is divided into 4 main sections - Parenting, Marriage, Family and General Home Schooling. The first section, Parenting, deals with parenting styles, how to keep an attitude, boundaries and guidelines and other topics involving parenting.

The second section, Marriage, involves subjects such as day-to-day living with someone else, companionship, working through hurt and pain, and how to use that pain in your personal growth.

The third section talks about family issues - emotions, time management, self-esteem, and communication. The communication part of this book is the most important and needed in today's society. Many families have difficulty with communication and this section gives some wonderful ideas to think about. When a couple or a parent and child argue day after day about issue after issue, they might be tempted to say, "We don't communicate". The issue, though, is that they don't communicate effectively. A quote in the book notes, "Isn't it true that silence can scream at a partner?". I think this is also true with parents and their children. Often, what isn't said is just as important as what is said.

The last section of the book deals with basic homeschool issues such as trying to homeschool and cope with the "real world" at the same time. It's one thing to read about homeschooling in books, but clearly another to actually attempt it between appointments, TV shows, worldly influences, and so on.

After each section there is a set of questions designed to help the reader reflect on what she has read and how these issues fit into her own life. This seems to be a genuinely effective book with regards to interpersonal reflection and how parents can help create a learning atmosphere both with and without textbooks.
