This beautiful hardcover, dust-jacketed book comes with a CD so you can enjoy the sound of the 12 beautiful hymns along with their stories in Hymns for a Kid's Heart. The stories from the pen of Bobbie Wolgemuth and the additional comments from Joni Eareckson Tada are heartwarming, sweet, and simple. Between their words and the lyrics, you may need a tissue. These are stories of faithful followers, many of whom are not well known this side of heaven, but despite obscurity, their lyrics stir our spirits. Sergio Martinez' gentle artwork suggesting bygone days adds to the "cuddle up" factor of the book.

Read the story, the comments, and every single word of every single verse. I fear we've lost more than just the memory of these strong, holy words; let them be pure, cool water to run over your world-parched soul. Learn to sing them with your children, grandchildren, or Sunday school class. My favorite part is Joni's explanation of justice, mercy, and grace. How beautiful! And, oh, the "real" lyrics for "Amazing Grace," not the politically correct version with a "one" like me. The book includes a glossary for unfamiliar, or "out-of-date" words, plus space for personal notes. This is an excellent purchase for children of all ages, especially for those with special challenges, because Joni pours her ministrations over their lives through her words.
