This book is designed to help your child take a more active role in his education and qualifies as a nine-week (one quarter credit) program. As a high school parent I found the information to be valuable to both myself and my daughter. I know so many parents that are terrified to homeschool throughout the high school years. I believe it's mainly because they don't have the proper support. This text provides all the information you need as parent to get you and your child through high one piece!

If used as a course, your child will learn time management, career exploration, organization and study skills. They will also have a better appreciation for all you do to prepare them! Imagine your child creating a 4-year study plan that includes keeping his own records! (unfortunately my daughter graduated this year and I couldn't reap the benefits of this book to its entirety)

It is divided into 9 sections (1 section per week) and provides reproducibles to help organize long-term and short-term goals, map out a course of study, track attendance, make an overall, tentative high school plan, yearly plans, project-report grading form, essay and composition grading form, priority task sheets for each day of the week, transcript/report card, reading record, experience record, a college savings bond list and an income/expense worksheet.

Each section covers valuable, lifelong information that I have not found in any other high school homeschooling book.

The Appendix provides course ideas for students, testing information, suggested reading material and contact resources (homeschool groups, State Departments of instruction, homeschool suppliers).

The first part of the book provides a supply list and the how-tos of using the course. It even provides a listing of how many copies you'll need of each reproducible. I truly wish I'd had this 4 years ago!

I highly recommend this book to any high school parent. Even if you think you have it all planned out, it is inevitable that you'll overlook something. High school can be overwhelming, but this text really maps it all out for you. I especially liked the idea of teaching your child to be accountable for his records, goal planning, and college preparation. Once my 6th grader reaches 9th grade, she will definitely use this course.
