The legal requirements for homeschooling vary from state to state and can change from year to year. The National Home Education Network (NHEN) has as an ongoing project to keep a listing of actual state laws for each state and territory of the United States. If you would like to read the actual state statutes or code for you state, please visit the NHEN State Legal & Legislative Information page.Reading the actual code can be valuable, but often it requires interpretation. Included with each of our state & legal information pages are links to interpretations provided by groups located in each state. Many state departments of education also have resources online to assist in interpreting or meeting legal requirements for homeschooling. • AHSA: Association of HomeSchool Attorneys
  List of Attorneys willing to consult with and/or represent homeschoolers: These attorneys have indicated that they are willing to provide legal information, consult with or represent homeschoolers on homeschooling or other legal issues they may have in their states.
• Home School Legal Defense Association
  This group generates a lot of controversy in homeschooling. We offer the following links to sites which offer criticism of HSLDA.

If you use 'EHO' in the subject line it will not be deleted unread. If you have not received an answer to your question, please resend your email. We usually have a delay of 1 to 2 weeks in answering email because of the number of requests we get. Those wishing to request links to our site should read our linking page before writing us. All our resources are posted online. We do not mail information to postal addresses.
